Former Member of Parliament for Agona West, Cynthia Mamle Morrison, has clarified that she never sought political favours or lobbied for any government appointment during her tenure under the Akufo-Addo government.
Appearing on The Verdict with Isaac Addae on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Mrs. Morrison said she never used her relationship with key figures in government to pursue personal benefits.
“I never lobbied for any position since day one. I never went to the Jubilee House for anything or asked anyone to do anything for me. I was very close to the President, but I never went to him. I was close to the First Lady, but I never went to her either. I never requested anything,” she stated.
The former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection noted that her work at the continental level demanded full commitment, leaving little room for political manoeuvring.
“I was a Member of Parliament for the Pan-African Parliament and had actually been elected as the Vice President of the West African Caucus, so it was a busy schedule for me,” she added.
Cynthia Morrison, who served under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, later broke ranks with the party to contest as an independent candidate after losing the parliamentary primaries.
