President John Dramani Mahama has lauded the Church of Pentecost for its continued commitment to national development through faith-based initiatives that promote restoration and transformation.
Speaking at the commissioning of the Damongo Camp Prison in the Savannah Region, President Mahama described the project as a “powerful symbol of hope, redemption, and partnership for national renewal.” He said the facility, built and donated by the Church of Pentecost, demonstrates what can be achieved when the state, the church, and the community work together in service to humanity.
The President commended the church’s leadership, led by Apostle Eric Nyamekye, for translating faith into practical compassion. He noted that from Ejura to Nsawam, and now Damongo, the Church of Pentecost has not only constructed buildings but created “sanctuaries of hope” where lives can be rebuilt and futures restored.
President Mahama recalled that the church financed and handed over the Ejura Camp Prison in 2021, followed by the Nsawam facility in the Eastern Region, with another at Obuasi currently under construction. He encouraged other faith-based organisations, corporate institutions, and philanthropists to emulate the church’s example, emphasising that nation-building is a shared moral responsibility.
“The church has once again shown that faith involves more than worship; it encompasses practical compassion and transformative action,” he said, adding that when the state and religious institutions work hand in hand, Ghana becomes stronger and more humane.

The Damongo Camp Prison constructed and donated by the Church of Pentecost is a three hundred (300) all male prison that serves as a transformative and skill acquisition facility. It is equipped with standard football pitch, workshops for carpentry, tailoring and metal fabrication works, chapel, dinning, baptistery amongst others.
According to the Ghana Prisons Service, Inmates at the Damongo Camp Prison are expected to used largely for agricultural works in the Damongo enclave.
