Former Black Satellites goalkeeper Daniel Agyei has called on President John Dramani Mahama to intervene and assist them in resolving the confusion over the Black Satellites investment issue from 2009.
Daniel Adjei whonwas on goal for Ghana when the Black Satellites won the FIFA U-20 world cup believes notwithstanding some of their former colleagues already securing their share of the investment, remains hopeful that something can be done to change the matured figure allocated to them.
Speaking in an interview with GHOne TV on The Game, he revealed that, along with other teammates, they were advised to seek legal counsel, but financial constraints have hindered their ability to do so.
“Yes. Something can change because it was not an individual investment. It was corporate and done for all of us. We talked to two or three big men, and they told us to get a lawyer. And most of us don’t have that money to hire them because it was the state who made this investment for us”.
“So I think the best way is for the state to help us. At that time, President John Dramani Mahama was then the vice president. So I want to plead on behalf of all of us to come in to help us to achieve what we’re supposed to achieve in these 15 years” he said.
Ten thousand(10,000) cedis each was invested in Ghana’s 10-15 year bonds as rewards for the teams conquest of the world Cup.
The reward package back then included a Toyota saloon car to each player, squad and coaching personnel.
In addition to the cars, the team received cash rewards from the government and also from private donors.
