Nsoatreman FC has officially addressed the tragic passing of Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Frimpong Pooley, assuring that efforts will be made to ensure the “real culprits” are held accountable.
Pooley tragically lost his life after being stabbed during Asante Kotoko’s Matchday 19 encounter against Nsoatreman in Nsoatre in Ghana’s top-flight league.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko reports that police have identified Brimah as the murder suspect and he is currently on the run.
“Life is precious and it is condemnable when life like that of Francis Yaw Frimpong (Nana Pooley) is lost in such a manner,” Nsoatreman said in a statement released.
“It is important to state on record that since the said death, management has been assisting the police with investigating the circumstances of the death, and in bringing to justice the person(s) who are accomplice in the death of Nana Pooley.
“It is the believe of management that the real culprits will be brought to book and justice served.”
Kotoko, who initially maintained a firm stance on not returning to football until the perpetrators were brought to justice, have expressed satisfaction with the progress of the investigation and will resume play after the late fan’s burial, scheduled for March 6.
The tragic incident resulted in the suspension of the league, prompting the Ghana FA to meet with all 18 Premier League clubs to discuss measures to prevent such occurrences.
