The former Managing Director of Ghana Post Company Limited, Bice Osei Kuffour, popularly known as Obour, has dismissed claims that the recent termination of over 100 staff appointments was due to irregular recruitment under his tenure.
His response follows the dismissal of more than 100 Ghana Post employees who were hired after the December 7, 2020, general elections, which the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lost. Reports suggested that their recruitment process was flawed, prompting their termination by the Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation.
However, Obour, who served as Managing Director from 2021 to 2023, has denied any wrongdoing, insisting that all appointments during his tenure followed due process.
“Ghana Post did not recruit 100 people last year, and there may be some inaccuracies in that claim. Typically, Ghana Post begins its recruitment process annually, which takes about three to four months to complete. The process starts with shortlisting all applications received across the regions. Once the applications are shortlisted, interview panels are conducted in three centres: the Western Region, Ashanti Region, and Greater Accra.”
“The last batch of interviews took place between September and October. Shortlisted applicants who qualify are then given medical forms, and appointment letters are issued accordingly,” he told Accra-based Starr News.
