Tensions flared during the ongoing Akatawia Sekesua-Sumuer junction road rehabilitation in Upper Manya Krobo in Eastern Region when a dispute arose between the construction company and the landowner of the logistics site at Akatawia.
The construction company, which had taken possession of the land in 2016 for use as a logistics site, faced complications due to non-payment by the Central Government, forcing them to vacate the site five years ago.
Upon their return, they discovered a church had been built on the property.
The church vowed not to relocate but the contractor insisted on regaining possession.
In a bid to defuse the situation, Hon Bismark Tetteh Nyarko played a crucial role by facilitating the relocation of the contractor to a new site at Sekesua after being informed of the challenges faced.
However, the contractor also faced another challenge as the original landowner filed a complaint with the police at Asesewa for illegal occupation of the land.
Urgently called to intervene, Hon Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, accompanied by the contractor, visited the Asesewa Police Station to withdraw the case and seek an amicable resolution.
The MP’s proactive involvement helped de-escalate the tension and pave the way for negotiations to continue.
Construction work progresses steadily at the new site in Sekesua, emphasizing the commitment to resolving the dispute while ensuring the road rehabilitation project remains on course.
