The Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Area Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III is pioneering the establishment of New Juaben Rural Bank and a modern Girls’ Senior High School in the traditional area.

The establishment of the proposed rural bank according to the Omanhene aims at supporting small-scale enterprises and traders in New Juaben to stimulate the local economy and create job opportunities for the youth.

He bemoaned that, New Juaben which is the regional capital and most populated in Eastern region does not have a rural bank given advantage to other rural banks to exploit the banking opportunities therein through extension of their branches.

“My vision for New Juaben is very high but will talk about two for now. The first one is rural bank. On the land of New Juaben we have Kwahu rural bank, Akuapem rural bank, Upper Manya rural bank among others. We in New Juaben do not have our own rural bank so our market women, traders, and entrepreneurs what support are we giving them. So if we get the rural bank it will be of immense economic benefit to stimulate the local economy. I am making this proposal to you all to let’s come together and work towards it. I am hopeful banking experts amongst us will initiate steps to make it a fruition in the earnest”.

Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III also explained that having Girls Senior High School in the traditional area will help promote girl child education.

“My second dream is the establishment of Girls School. When you look around Eastern region, we have many Girls Schools but New Juaben doesn’t have any. We have Aburi Girls, St Roses, Krobo Girls, and Methodist girls. So New Juaben which hosts Eastern Regional capital must have a modern Girls school to promote girl child education. It is very dear to my heart.

Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III said this during dinner and awards night on Monday held by the traditional area at Eastern premier hotel to climax the weeklong activities for this year’s Akwasidae Kese festival.

Gabby Asare Okyere Darko who was the chairman for the event lauded the proposed initiative by Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III to establish rural bank and girls’ school stating that the processes must start for it to come into fruition.

He said consultants must be engaged to develop business plans and start headhunting for the establishment of the bank.

Gabby Okyere Darko said New Juaben traditional area does not have any natural resources therefore will strive for innovative ideas to transform the area.

He called on sons and daughters of New Juaben to rally maximum support to the new Omanhene Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III to lead the transformation process.

The Eastern regional Minister Seth Kwame Acheampong said government has decided to partner New Juaben traditional area to revive Akwantukese and make it one of the biggest festivals in Ghana.

Present at the event were Aburihene Otuobuor Gyan Kwasi, Member of Parliament and municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South Michael Okyere Baafi and Isaac Appaw Gyasi respectively as well as some sub-chiefs and dignitaries.

Ghc226,500 cedis plus $500 were actualized during a spontaneous fundraising by the Member of Parliament for New Juaben South Michael Okyere Baafi.

Medals and trophies were presented to winners of the Daasebre Table Tennis competition held on Thursday, December 22,2022 at the Yiadom Hwedie palace.

The New Juaben Table Tennis club also presented a citation to Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III for his commitment to developing the sport in Koforidua.
