El Wak Wings delivered a dominant display to defeat La Pioneers in straight sets during Matchweek 15 of the Greater Accra Volleyball Association (GAVA) League, held at the El Wak Stadium.
The commanding victory, covered by GhOne Sports’ Nurudeen Abdul Malik, saw El Wak Wings secure a 3-0 win with set scores of 25-13, 25-18, and 25-21 – reinforcing their place in the top four.
El Wak Wings cruised through the first set with minimal resistance from their opponents. Although La Pioneers opened the second set strongly, scoring the first point and serving aggressively, El Wak quickly regained control.
A tactical substitution saw Daniel Tetteh, wearing the number 5 jersey, replace Isaac Amon for La Pioneers. However, the change had little impact, as El Wak Wings took the set comfortably. Notably, Daniel Anyagre, who wore jersey number 12, received the match’s first card.

In the third set, La Pioneers mounted a brief comeback, stringing together three consecutive points. But El Wak responded with a strong finish to close the set 25-21 and complete the straight-set victory.

Speaking after the match, La Pioneers head coach Joseph Sackey attributed the defeat to inconsistent training due to player unavailability.
“I did not think my team could lose three straight sets, and it’s all because we don’t train,” he said. “Most of the players are always working, but the team will recruit players in the second half of the season, which will be good for us in the course of the season.”
