Incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the Krowor, Dr. (Mrs.) Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has retained her seat after defeating Ing. Emmanuel Odai Laryea of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with over 16, 000 votes margin.

At the end of the polls, Mrs Lartey polled, 39, 198, votes against Ing. Laryea Odai, who represented the NPP , managed 23, 116 votes.

It is the second time in a row that, the NPP came up short in the Parliamentary elections at the Constituency succumbing to a former NALAG General Secretary.

While the NDC’s Dr Momo Lartey was contesting the seat for the third time, her contender Ing. Laryea Odai was contesting for the first time this year, after defeating, Elizabeth Afotey Quaye, in the NPP primaries earlier this year.

In 2020, Dr Lartey unseated then Fisheries Minister, Mrs. Elizabeth Afoley Quaye, with over 9, 000 votes difference.

Four years later, Ing. Emmanuel Laryea Odai who replaced Mrs. Afotey Quaye also came up short and was instead defeated by a wider margin of over 16, 000 votes.

Both the NPP and NDC have shared the Krowor constituency seat since 1992.

The NDC has now won the seat five times (1996, 2008, 2012, 2020 and 2024) while the NPP had laid claim to the seat three times (2000, 2004, 2016).

The Returning Officer in the area, Mr Benedict Clottey, also announced that, Azumah Courage Kwame Mensah of the National Democratic Party (NDP) and Duke Afotey Mensah, an Independent Candidate polled 97 and 125 respectively.

Addressing the media after the declaration, Mrs Lartey expressed profound gratitude to the constituents for the confidence reposed in her and commended them for making the elections peaceful.

She pledged to work closely with the constituents and together with the new NDC government to be led by John Dramani Mahama, to drive massive development in the area, assuring that all the promise she made to them during the campaign period would be fulfilled.
