The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has announced the arrest of 320 individuals in Kumasi following a large-scale anti-fraud and human trafficking operation carried out by its Anti-Human Trafficking Unit.
According to a statement issued by EOCO, initial assessments revealed that 25 of the 320 individuals are potential suspects, while the remaining 295 are believed to be victims of human trafficking and employment scams operating under the guise of QNET.
The coordinated raid, which took place at two separate locations, follows several months of intensive investigations by the Office. EOCO described the operation as the largest anti-human trafficking exercise in Ghana, coming just two weeks after a similar operation in Kasoa, which led to the arrest of over 26 individuals.
EOCO said both the suspects and victims are currently undergoing screening, with the 25 suspects expected to face further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Office also highlighted its ongoing collaboration with QNET to combat the misuse of the company’s brand name for fraudulent and trafficking-related activities. EOCO commended QNET for its cooperation and pledged continued joint efforts to bring perpetrators to justice.
