An Accra Circuit Court has approved bail applications for two New Patriotic Party (NPP)-affiliated social media figures, but both will remain in custody until formalities are completed.
Prince Ofori, better known on TikTok as Fante Comedy, who was arrested after a viral video allegedly threatening to Kill President Mahama and behead the First lady was granted bail of GH¢100,000 with three sureties, two of whom must be employed. He is also required to hand over his passport.
Ofori was arrested on August 12, alongside one other, for allegedly spreading false information and issuing threats following the August 6 military helicopter crash. His case has been adjourned to August 25.
In a separate matter, party activist Daniel Adomako, alias Sir Obama Pokuase, secured bail of GH¢50,000 with three sureties.
At least two of the sureties must be salaried workers, including one government employee earning a minimum of GH¢3,000 monthly.
He was arrested a day later during an operation that uncovered the illegal display and possession of high-grade weapons.
According to police, the arrests form part of a broader crackdown on unlicensed firearms and dangerous online activity.
Authorities say several weapons and rounds of ammunition have already been recovered as investigations continue.
