Members of the Frozen Food Importers Association of Ghana have thrown their weight behind government’s plan to implement the Cargo Tracking Note System (CTN).
“We believe this will bring a level playing field in the current Customs duty payment and valuation Regime,” the spokesperson of the Association Michael Allotey said in a statement.

Our Attention has been drawn to a Press Conference held by the Ghana Institute Of Freight Forwarders last Monday in opposing the implementation of the CTN in Ghana.
We, members of the Frozen Food Importers Association of Ghana wish to state categorically that we are in strong agreement with the position taken by the Chamber Of Freight and Trade to Support Government and GRA in the Implementation of the Cargo Tracking Note System.
We believe this will bring a level playing field in the current Customs duty payment and valuation Regime.
Currently, some frozen food imports have closed their cold stores and out of business due to the existing unfair valuation and duties that are charge to some of our members.
We are aware that some of members who have closer relationships with some officials at the ports and hence enjoy preferential treatment by way of lower value for duty payment, while others are given very high value thereby causing retail price differential to the advantage of only a few members.
We are therefore in full support of GRA and Government to as a matter of urgency implement the CTN system to address the disparities in our business.
