Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson held a high-level meeting with the President of the World Bank Group, Ajay Banga, to deepen cooperation and unlock new opportunities for Ghana’s development agenda.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington D.C, focused on scaling up support for both ongoing World Bank–financed projects and new initiatives aimed at accelerating Ghana’s economic transformation.
Dr. Forson and Mr. Banga agreed to prioritise five strategic sectors where enhanced World Bank support will deliver maximum impact for the Ghana’s economy:
• Education
• Health
• Energy
• Roads
• Agriculture
Dr Forson believes these areas are central to Ghana’s medium- to long-term growth strategy and will anchor future collaboration with the World Bank.
“With this renewed collaboration, we are working together to accelerate Ghana’s journey toward a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable economy,” Dr. Forson said.
Also present at the meeting was Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Asiama, and Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Victor Smith.

The World Bank’s ongoing support to Ghana covers critical initiatives in fiscal reform, infrastructure, renewable energy, and human capital development — key elements of the government’s economic transformation agenda.
