Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor, has stated that Ghana is currently not experiencing load-shedding, also known as “dumsor”.
Addressing the Presidential press at the Jubilee house, he emphasized that the demand for a load-shedding timetable by the minority in parliament and some individuals is unnecessary.
“When you are not shedding load, there will be no need to publish a load-shedding timetable,” He said.
John Jinapor made it known that Ghana is currently exporting approximately 300 megawatts of power to neighboring countries like Burkina Faso, Benin, and others.
This, he explained, is a clear indication that there is no need for a load-shedding timetable when the country has enough power to export. “In fact, as we speak, we are exporting about 300 megawatts of power outside Ghana to Burkina Faso, Benin, and other neighboring countries. And so when you have enough and you are exporting power, obviously, there will be no need to publish a load-shedding timetable.”
However, Jinapor recognized the fragility and weakness of the current system and assured the public that efforts are being made to procure sufficient fuel and make necessary payments to power suppliers to maintain the stability of the system.
