The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has confirmed the arrest of Abdul Karim Alhassan and Sadique Abubakar, two of the four individuals previously declared wanted in connection with a gold smuggling syndicate.
Both suspects voluntarily surrendered to authorities and have been formally arraigned before the High Court to face charges including gold smuggling, conspiracy to smuggle gold, and transporting gold without a license.
The court granted bail to the accused; however, they remain in lawful custody as the bail conditions have not yet been met.
Proceedings are set to continue as the legal process unfolds.
The two remaining suspects — Mohammed Afsal Puthalan and Mohammed Refeeq Nandoli, also known as Salam — are still at large.
Authorities are appealing to the public to provide any credible information regarding their whereabouts.
GoldBod has reiterated that a reward of One Million Ghana Cedis (GHS 1,000,000) per person is still active for information leading to their arrest.
The board continues to work closely with the Ghana Police Service to dismantle the smuggling network and ensure those involved are brought to justice.
