Gomoa Central is set to become Ghana’s newest industrial and trade hub following the official declaration of the Gomoa Central Special Economic Zone (GC-SEZ), a 21,000-acre development that aims to drive large-scale manufacturing, logistics, and investment under the government’s 24-hour economy vision.
Speaking at the declaration ceremony on Tuesday, October 22, 2025, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Hon. Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as Kwame A-Plus, described the project as a bold step toward national economic renewal and regional transformation.
According to him, the GC-SEZ will serve as a modern industrial and commercial hub featuring a deep-sea industrial port at Gomoa Mankoadze, automobile assembly plants, agro-processing factories, pharmaceutical and health industries, ICT innovation hubs, and TVET training centers. The project will also include a 350-megawatt solar power plant to provide clean and reliable energy to industries and surrounding communities.
“This is not just about factories, we are building a modern hub where industries will rise, businesses will flourish, and modern living will thrive,” the MP declared. “Gomoa Central will be the bridge between Ghana and Africa’s tomorrow.”
Hon. Kwame emphasized that the initiative aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s 24-hour economy agenda, which seeks to stimulate productivity, create jobs, and promote economic diversification across all regions.
He noted that the new Special Economic Zone will operate under the Ghana Free Zones Authority and is strategically aligned with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), headquartered in Accra, to position Ghana as a key player in intra-African trade.
Highlighting Gomoa’s historical significance, Hon. Kwame recalled how Dr. Kwame Nkrumah once established several pioneering projects in the area, including the Pomadze Poultry Farm, Feed Mill, Hatchery, and Animal Husbandry initiatives; all of which laid the foundation for Ghana’s early industrial vision.
“History has shown that Gomoa has always been central to Ghana’s development story. Now it is our turn to continue that vision and build the future our forefathers dreamed of,” he said.
The MP further stated that the zone’s location offers unique logistical advantages; situated along the Kasoa–Takoradi highway, with direct connections to Accra, Tema, Cape Coast, and Takoradi, as well as the proposed six-lane Abidjan–Lagos Highway, which will link five West African capitals and boost regional trade.
“With two seaports, two highways, and access to multiple regional markets, Gomoa Central will become a key gateway for commerce and opportunity,” he said.
Hon. Kwame Asare Obeng assured investors and partners that the project would be implemented transparently and sustainably, calling for national collaboration to ensure its success.
“I have not come to beg for handouts. I have come to declare that in the land of Gomoa lies opportunity, prosperity waiting to be unlocked. Together, let us seize it, shape it, and share it with the world,” he concluded.
