Premier league debutants Accra Lions will kick-start the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season as they host Elmina Sharks at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.
After topping Ghana Division One Zone three last season to make it into the elite division, Lions have had a decent pre-season training having beaten reigning premier league champions Hearts of Oak 3-2 in a preseason match.
Lions coach, Rainer Kraft believes his side is aiming at finishing within the top four at the end of the season.
“We’re here to make an impact. The team is very ambitious, the team has an ambitious coach and we want to win matches and gain the best position possible. The premier league is different from the division one but we will give our best to succeed”. He told GHOne TV.
Elmina Sharks, having had a tiresome campaign last season, leaving it very late to survive in the premier league with a 1-0 win over giants Asante Kotoko SC on the last day at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.
Sharks however hopes to make a decent campaign this season beginning with a win tonight to ensure the best start for the Elmina boys.
