Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC), Prof. Kobby Mensah, has called on young professionals in leadership positions to take their responsibilities seriously and prioritise innovation when managing state institutions.
Speaking on Starr Showbiz with Feeling Daddy on Starr 103.5 FM on Saturday, July 12, Prof. Mensah expressed disappointment over what he described as a lack of progressive thinking and accountability among some youthful leaders in the previous administration of the company.
“I get shocked to see young people behaving as though… you know, because we think that young people are supposed to be vibrant, supposed to have the energy, supposed to do the most innovative stuff. But unfortunately, it’s the reverse,” he said.
Without going into full details, the GTDC CEO indicated that the company had suffered severe setbacks due to poor decisions made by the former leadership, highlighting a drastic drop in operational assets as one example.
“How would you have a place of 11 cars reduced to 1.1? I mean, that’s shameful,” he remarked.

Prof. Mensah stressed that innovation must be a core mandate of leadership, especially within public institutions, adding that “you have to ensure that you are bettering the lot of the place, not leaving it worse.”
While he refrained from directly naming individuals or giving exhaustive details, he hinted that those responsible would have to account for their actions in due time.
