The Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) Professor Stephen Adei has parried accusations that he is treating the Akufo-Addo government with kid gloves.
He said his critics are quick to forget he spared the erstwhile Mahama administration two years of criticisms and commentary on their performance.
Speaking to Francis Abban on the Morning Starr Tuesday, Professor Adei he only started attacking the Mahama government upon realizing that they did not have efficient solutions to the problems of the country.
“For two years, I never spoke about the Mahama administration. It was in his third year I spoke about him but many didn’t notice. I only started speaking when I realized that things were bad and the policies were not good enough and the corruption was rising in the country,” he said.
The former rector of GIMPA also noted he has never held a political party card.
“When I say I’m a political person, I’m looking at progress in Ghana first and not being affiliated to any political party. I’ve never held a political party card and I’ll never hold one looking at the way things look”.
On his role at the NDPC, the academic said his team is working to create a ten year development plan out of the 40 year plan left by the previous government under the leadership of the respected economist Dr. Nii Moi Thompson.
“The NDPC ought to be a development think tank for Ghana. The 40 year development plan has not been thrown away at all. We are working on our 10 year plan using the plan. The 40 year development plan has not been thrown away at all. We are working on our 10 year plan using the plan”.
