Achiase Senior High School (ACHISEC) located in the Eastern region finds itself in the grip of an ICT education crisis.

Shockingly, not a single computer is available for practical learning, leaving its 2,500 students stranded in theoretical studies.

Expressing profound concern, Mr. Eric Amoah, the Headmaster of ACHISEC, lamented the dire situation, stating, “It’s disheartening to witness our school excel academically while grappling with inadequate infrastructure, especially in our ICT lab.”

The gravity of the issue is exacerbated by the stalled government-initiated computer laboratory project, leaving the completed building barren and devoid of essential furnishings.

Mr. Amoah emphasized the urgency of the matter, urging swift intervention from both philanthropists and government authorities.

During a meeting convened to commend the students’ performance in a quiz competition, Mr. Amoah reiterated the pressing need for intervention, “Without access to computers for practical studies, our students are at a significant disadvantage.”

Moreover, inadequate teacher accommodation further complicates matters, hindering effective supervision. “Currently, with a student population of about 2,500, we have only four teachers on campus,” Mr. Amoah disclosed, highlighting the challenges faced in ensuring adequate oversight.

Some of the teachers shared their frustrations over the lack of computers in the school adding their voices for urgent support.

The plight of the students was palpable as they demonstrated how the absence of computers continues to affect the learning of ICT.

They cited the lack of ICT resources and other infrastructure deficits as major impediments to their academic growth.
