Former President John Mahama has expressed deep concern over the lack of development in several communities in the Central Region, accusing the Akufo-Addo government of neglecting these areas for “petty partisan political reasons.”
Following a tour of fourteen constituencies in the region, Mahama highlighted the widespread dissatisfaction among residents who feel ignored by the government despite their democratic choices.
He spoke of the frustrations echoed by chiefs and residents of Ekumfi, Brakwa, and Ajumako Besease, who are grappling with inadequate infrastructure, healthcare, education, and limited opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.
“It pains me to see our cherished communities grappling with the neglect of crucial development projects vital for their growth and well-being,” Mahama stated.
He questioned the government’s rationale for prioritizing political allegiances over the needs of the people, stating, “How does a government ignore the needs of the people it governs, seemingly punishing communities for their democratic choices in voting for the NDC and electing its parliamentary candidates?”
Mahama emphasized that development should be a right for all citizens, not a privilege reserved for a select few.
He pledged that the NDC administration led by himself and his running mate Naana Jane would prioritize the development of all communities, ensuring that no area is left behind.
“As I have done before when I was president and will lead this country to achieve again, development shall be a right for all, not a privilege for a few.
The NDC administration of John Mahama and Naana Jane will ensure the progress of our communities and meet your needs, and I promise that no community will be left behind”, Mahama mentioned.
Mahama’s comments highlight the growing frustration among many Ghanaians who feel marginalized and neglected by the current government.
