Johnston & Johnson has launched a new office in Ghana to serve the West African market.
Johnson & Johnson seeks to increase the quality of and access to healthcare in West Africa with the introduction of the new office.
The event was attended by high profile personalities including the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, the US Ambassador, Robert Jackson and other professionals in the pharmaceutical and health fields.
The Country Director of Johnson & Johnson office in Accra, Priscilla Owusu Sekyere emphasized that the pharmaceutical company will “address the health issues that matter most in Ghana by patronizing new initiatives in mental health, diabetes, maternal, new born and child health, HIV prevention and oncology.”
The Health Minister Agyemang Manu reiterated government’s plans to boost the pharmaceutical industry in the country. He added that “government will provide additional incentives to make the local pharmaceutical manufacturers competitive.”
Manu added that this is in line with government’s vision to build a favourable business environment to entice investors to come to the country. He tasked Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical company to partner local manufacturers to produce products locally.
Meanwhile, Johnson & Johnson plans to bring together multiple consumer, medical device, pharmaceutical and global public health organizations to deliver an integration approach to improving health outcomes in the country.
