Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, has joined the nation in mourning the eight individuals who perished in the tragic Ghana Air Force helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6.
In a solemn message of condolence, Dr. Agyepong described the late officials and military officers as “true patriots” who served Ghana with honour and distinction.
“This is a heartbreaking loss; to their families, to the Government, and to the Nation they served with honour and distinction. Ghana has lost true patriots,” he said.
He extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the entire Jospong Group to the bereaved families and pledged continued thoughts and prayers during this difficult period.
The military helicopter crash, which occurred in the Adansi area of the Ashanti Region, claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, NDC Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, and three Ghana Armed Forces personnel – Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
The Ghana Air Force Z9 helicopter, which had departed from Accra en route to Obuasi, lost radar contact shortly after takeoff at 09:12 GMT. It was later confirmed to have crashed, with all eight onboard confirmed dead.
