Joycelyn Quashie, Member of Parliament for North Dayi, has partnered with agriculture and agribusiness experts to launch a comprehensive training programme under her Agrogrowth Project, aimed at empowering 250 constituents with practical skills in mushroom farming and processing.
The three-month pilot programme also features modules in gari and rice processing, equipping participants with marketable skills for sustainable income generation.
Participants are being provided with basic Personal Protective Equipment—including Wellington boots, overcoats, gloves, and sanitisers—along with a monthly stipend to support them throughout the training.
At the opening session, the MP urged trainees to engage fully with the programme, highlighting that the knowledge and skills gained would enhance their employability and entrepreneurial potential. She also committed to supporting participants beyond the training by helping them secure buyers for their products once production begins.
The pilot programme is currently running in Awate, Wusuta, and Tsrukpe, with plans to expand to the remaining areas in North Dayi by October 2025.
