Four post-graduate alumni of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) have been appointed to top security and ambassadorial positions in Liberia.
Mr. Patrick Toe Sudue, who enrolled onto the Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace and Security programme in 2014, has been appointed as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of the Liberia National Police. Until his appointment, he was a Superintendent.
Meritoriously promoted to the position of the Chief of Staff, Office of the Vice President of Liberia, Mr. George Tenesee Nimely, was previously the Third Secretary at the Embassy of Liberia in Accra, Ghana, a position he held whiles pursuing an Executive Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace and Security class at KAIPTC in 2016. Upon completion, he was immediately promoted to Second Secretary/Vice Consul, and then First Secretary/Consul in 2017.
Formerly the Ambassador at the Embassy of Liberia in Accra, Ghana, Madam Musu Jatu Ruhle is now Liberia’s Ambassador in Freetown, Sierra Leone. She successfully completed her Executive Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace and Security programme and was a student in the first cohort admitted for the programme.
Madam Doe Abratha Patience Tetee, previously the National Coordinator for the Women, Peace and Security Secretariat, has now assumed the position of the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for European affairs in Liberia. She was a student in the maiden batch for the Master of Arts in Gender, Peace and Security Programme.
Commenting on these worthy achievements, the Commandant of KAIPTC noted that “we are very proud of our alumni, and especially happy to have contributed to this professional elevation, through the tutelage they received while pursuing their MA programmes. We wish them every success in these positions”.
The objectives of KAIPTC’s postgraduate programmes, among others, are to equip students with the knowledge and skills to achieve the highest professional standards in conflict prevention, resolution and management, peace brokering and security management, to play a meaningful roles in peace support operations, regional organizations, peace councils, civil society organizations as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations.
The Centre has close to 500 alumni from 26 countries in Africa, America, Asia and Europe.
