Police in the Central Region have arrested a 35-year-old man, identified only as Sammy, for allegedly murdering his girlfriend, Mabel Asantewaa, a 26-year-old seamstress, at Kalabule Chinese down near the Kasoa toll booth.
According to reports, the suspect, a carpenter, stabbed the 26-year-old seamstress multiple times in the neck during a confrontation in their room.
After the attack, he ingested a poisonous substance in an apparent suicide attempt but was rescued by police and rushed to the Ngleshie Amanfro Polyclinic.
Preliminary investigations suggest the incident occurred after the suspect demanded sex, which Mabale refused because she was menstruating. The refusal allegedly triggered the violent assault.
Mabel’s body has been deposited at the police morgue for autopsy as investigations continue. An eyewitness, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, narrated the events to GhOne News.
