The largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has called on delegates of the party to give him massive support in his bid to become the next flagbearer, stressing that his business experience positions him to create jobs and transform the Ghanaian economy.
Speaking during an interview in the Upper West Region, Mr. Agyapong said Ghana needs a leader with a practical business mindset who can establish industries and generate employment, especially for the youth in the five northern regions.
“You need a businessman who will come and create industries, at least in the five northern regions. I’m going to move two ministries to the five northern regions. The first one, I know, will go to Tamale – because of the Tamale Airport. And I’m sure, because you have the airstrip (Upper West Region), we will turn it into a proper airport so that we can send our produce to the European and UK markets with cargo planes,” he said.
Mr. Agyapong also commended Burkina Faso’s President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, for his commitment to national development, describing him as a selfless leader who has prioritized the welfare of his people.
He urged Ghanaians to emulate such leadership qualities, noting that the difference between Ghana and Burkina Faso lies in leadership, not resources.
“We are closer to Burkina. Go and see what the young man is doing. Are you saying he’s a better human being than us? No, but he loves his country, that is all. He’s sacrificing his life for Burkina Faso. Do we have the same people here?” he questioned.
“You are not poor; you are poor in leadership. And these same people will come and tell you, ‘Vote for Mr. A,’ and they cannot change your life,” he added.
