A former Deputy National Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Edem Eric Agbana has officially filed his nomination forms to contest in the party’s parliamentary primaries.

Mr. Agbana who is seeking to become the party’s parliamentary candidate for the Ketu North constituency ahead of the 2024 general elections submitted his forms on Wednesday.

Mr. Agbana in an interaction with the media indicated that the decision to contest is influenced by the potential, productivity and passion of the people of Ketu North among other things.

The young politician believes Ketu North needs a leader with the right competence who will be able to build on the strong foundations laid by outgoing Member of Parliament, Dr. James Klutse Avedzi.

“Skills, jobs, education, social and economic infrastructure, care of the vulnerable and aged, and support for our farmers and traders are the basic things that we must tackle.”

The achieve all of these, he said, “Ketu North deserves a visionary, result-oriented and people-centered leader to build on the strong foundation of Dr James Klutse Avedzi and his predecessors.”

“I have said, and I reiterate on the occasion of my filing that my vision for this bid is for the people, my people, the people of Ketu North,” he said.

He stressed the need for delegates to elect a parliamentary candidate that will drive the overall development of the constituency and also amass a significant amount of votes for the presidential elections come 2024 in ensuring absolute victory for the NDC.

“This election also importantly determines our party’s performance in the next election. Our aim is to increase our winning percentage from 53.6% in 2020 to 85% in 2024. We need a youthful, credible, well-known, unifier, a mobilizer, someone who is accustomed to the mechanics of party mobilization and someone who has a track record of winning elections and performing in office.”

To win it, Mr. Agbana would have to beat competition from seven other persons who filed to contest in the primaries.
