Richard Asare Baffour Esq., the lawyer representing popular traditional priestess Agradaa, has criticised the prosecution in her ongoing criminal trial for repeatedly amending its charge sheet, a move he says has undermined the case.
Speaking on Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey on Monday, February 9, 2026, Baffour argued that the prosecution’s revisions followed challenges to witness accounts, which exposed inconsistencies in the original narrative.
“When the witnesses were challenged, it became clear that some of the things being alleged did not actually happen, and the prosecution had to go back and take those elements out,” he said.
The lawyer explained that the case initially relied on claims that the alleged incident occurred under the cover of darkness, with assertions that lights were deliberately turned off to facilitate the act.
However, during cross-examination, witnesses were unable to sustain these claims, prompting the prosecution to amend the charge sheet.
“In a criminal trial, the moment you change the charge sheet and the reason for that change is not minor, but has to do with the substance of the case, everything that has happened previously comes to an end,” Baffour said.
He added that multiple amendments effectively nullified prior evidence.
“When the charge sheet was changed for the second time, it meant that the evidence already led, the witness statements, and even the oaths sworn by witnesses did not exist in legal terms. The case had to start all over again,” he said.
Baffour warned that such procedural lapses not only delay justice but also erode public confidence in the criminal justice system, especially in high-profile cases.
