The Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Apaak on behalf of H.E. John Dramani Mahama and the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has formally extended an invitation to the President of the Ga Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II to chair the national launch of a free sanitary pad distribution programme.
Speaking on behalf of H.E. John Dramani Mahama and the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, Dr. Apaak visited the Ga Traditional Council to present the official invitation. The invitation was received by the Paramount Chief of the Abola Traditional Area, Nii Ahene Nunoo III, on behalf of the President of the Ga Traditional Council.

“I also bring you greetings from His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and your own son, the Honourable Minister for Education, the Honourable Haruna Iddrisu,” Dr. Apaak said.
“The President made a promise that, should he be given the mandate, he would provide and distribute free sanitary pads to girls of school-going age in public schools within his first 100 days in office. The people of Ghana gave him that mandate.”

Dr. Apaak appealed to the Council to support the programme by allowing His Royal Majesty to chair the event, underscoring its national significance and the need for traditional authority endorsement.
“We are here today to convey a humble request to seek His Royal Majesty’s presence to chair this very important national affair,” he added.
The official launch of the initiative is scheduled for April 24 and is expected to attract key figures from education, traditional leadership, and civil society.
The programme aims to remove barriers to education for young girls by providing free sanitary pads in public primary and senior high schools.
