A final-year student and acting Boys’ Prefect of Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi has died after reportedly falling from the top floor of the school’s administration block on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

The student, identified as Abass, a form three Business student, was rushed to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital following the fall but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The incident reportedly occurred during school hours, drawing the attention of both students and staff who quickly responded to the scene.

Sources within the school indicate that Abass had previously shown signs of distress and was believed to have been contemplating suicide, though school authorities were unaware of these concerns.

Family members, including his mother and uncle, confirmed that he had made remarks suggesting he might harm himself, but they had assumed he was joking. Some students also corroborated these accounts.

School administrators confirmed that the matter had been reported to the Ashanti Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service, although the GES has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident.

The body of the deceased has since been buried in accordance with Islamic traditions.

Authorities and family members are urging students and the public to take mental health concerns seriously and seek immediate help when individuals display signs of distress.
