Professor Baffour Agyeman-Duah says President John Dramani Mahama is showing clear resolve to leave behind a legacy that will endure beyond his time in office, arguing that the President’s actions are matching his public commitments.
Speaking on Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey, the governance expert said, “There’s no question in my mind that President Mahama seems to be determined, very determined to leave a legacy.”
He cited large-scale infrastructure plans, including the proposed Accra–Kumasi Expressway under the government’s Big Push agenda, as strong indicators of that determination.
According to him, “Clearly he seems determined to make a difference in the lives of Ghanaians,” stressing that the scale and ambition of the projects point to a long-term vision.
Prof Agyeman-Duah, however, acknowledged that the President’s remaining three years in office may not be sufficient to complete all the major initiatives. He maintained, nonetheless, that starting such projects is itself a critical step.
“Even if he starts them and subsequent governments continue, then we can see real success,” he said.
He further welcomed President Mahama’s commitment to ending the practice of abandoning ongoing projects, describing it as crucial for sustainable national development.
“This determination is a good omen for Ghana’s progress,” Prof Agyeman-Duah added.
