President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to end the perennial water crisis in the Northern Region.
This comes after the Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari II, raised concerns about the area’s inadequate water supply.
During a visit to the Gbewaa Palace as part of his ‘Thank You’ tour, the president assured the Yaa Naa and the people of Yendi of his commitment to ensure adequate water supply before the expiration of his term.
President Mahama also indicated his plans to improve medical facilities in Yendi and assured the community of his administration’s dedication to addressing this issue.
“Ndan Yaa Naa, the healthcare, one of the projects that has been dear to your heart that has been abandoned for so many years is the Yendi Hospital. I can assure you that we are going to achieve that project and build a modern health facility here in Yendi.
“In addition, we intend to upgrade the old Tamale Central Hospital in order to ease the pressure on the Tamale Teaching Hospital. We’re going to upgrade both the Tamale Municipal Hospital and the Tamale Central Hospital. This will improve healthcare for the people of the Northern Region,” he promised.
