President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the Solar for Industries Project will generate clean, stable, and affordable electricity dedicated to Ghana’s manufacturing and export zones, reinforcing his government’s commitment to driving industrial growth through renewable energy.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the project at the Dawa Industrial Zone, President Mahama said the initiative marks a major turning point in Ghana’s transition toward sustainable energy under the Reset Agenda, which seeks to ensure uninterrupted power for industries and export operations.
“The Solar for Industries project, developed by Park Solar in partnership with Qom Investments, the International Finance Corporation, and with technical cooperation from Chinese EPC contractors, marks a significant shift towards renewable industrial energy,” he stated. “This facility will produce clean, stable, and affordable electricity dedicated to Ghana’s manufacturing and export zones. And this is the core of our 24-hour economy and industrial recovery programme.”

He explained that the project aligns with the national blueprint linking energy transition, industrial competitiveness, and climate responsibility. “When we launched the Reset Agenda, we pledged to make energy the catalyst for inclusive industrialisation,” he said.

According to the President, the long-term goal is to build a Ghana where every factory, cold storage facility, digital hub, and export plant can operate efficiently around the clock without interruptions or high energy costs.

He added that dependable power will be crucial as Ghana embraces the 24-hour economy, with rising energy demands across key sectors such as manufacturing, food processing, mining, textiles, and ICT.
“Projects like this,” President Mahama concluded, “will enable that expansion to be both possible and sustainable.”
