Tempers reached fever pitch on Friday on the floor of Parliament when an embattled Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Ernest Yaw Kumi attempted to make a statement on the floor of Parliament.
The MP has been declared wanted by the High Court 3 in Koforidua after convicting him of contempt.
A call by second deputy speaker Andrew Asiamah who was presiding in Parliament to the MP to make his statement drew resistance from the Majority with its leader Mahama Ayariga drawing attention to the lingering legal matters.
The Bawku Central MP ended his submission by washing the hands of his side from any legal implications of the action
Majority Chief Whip Rockson Nelson-Dafeamekpor was however not ready to end it at just washing of hands.
He warned the Akwatia MP should not be allowed to make his statement describing him as a fugitive of justice. The South Dayi MP subsequently asked the speaker to adjourn the house
Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin however sprang up in opposition to the request of the majority for an adjournment.
According to him, lawyers for Ernest Yaw Kumi have filed processes for a stay of execution of the ruling and a notice of appeal as well and thus the MP should be allowed to make his statement.
The acrimonious nature of the exchanges, however, compelled the speaker to announce a suspension of sitting but realizing the danger announced an abrupt adjournment.
