Ghanaian MC and entertainment personality David Adjei Frimpong, popularly known as MC Portfolio, has dismissed the growing circulation of counter-billboards advertising alternative dates for the late Daddy Lumba’s funeral, insisting they hold no authority over the officially approved arrangements.
Speaking on Starr Showbiz with Feeling Daddy on Starr 103.5 FM on Saturday, November 6, 2025, he acknowledged the appearance of billboards in Kumasi bearing dates such as March 14 and December 13, which he described as “divisive” and unrelated to the customary decision on the funeral date.
MC Portfolio said he could not confirm who was behind the competing signage, noting only that he had heard “grapevine information,” suggesting some sections of the family may be responsible. However, he stressed that those alleged interests have no capacity to influence or replace the officially sanctioned date.
According to him, the only date recognised is December 13, which he said has been “stamped” by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, whose decisions, he noted “are never overturned.” He added that the endorsement by the Asanteman authorities, particularly the intervention of Otumfuo, made the date final.
“No counter-decision or date can overturn what the efficacy has and does,” he emphasised, insisting that the community is aligned with the official directive and will observe December 13 as the true day of the funeral.

MC Portfolio reiterated that any other dates promoted in the city are “extroversional” and carry no customary weight, adding that the public is already preparing for the December 13 ceremony, which he described as the accepted and legitimate date across Kumasi.
