Kwame Asare Obeng, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, popularly known as A-Plus, says he is not obliged to comment on every national issue or lead investigation into alleged wrongdoings, arguing that his primary responsibility is to represent his constituency in parliament
Speaking on GHToday with Serwaa Amihere on Thursday, January 29, 2026, the legislator clarified the scope of his mandate, emphasizing that his role in Parliament is clearly defined and should not be confused with that of investigative institutions or civil society actors.
“I am not paid to investigate corruption. I am not paid to talk about everything that happens in Ghana. That is somebody’s job,” A-Plus said.
“At this point, what I am paid to do is to be a legislator and to take care of the people of Gomoa Central and to bring their issues. That is what I am getting paid to do. That is my core business.”
The MP stressed that effective representation requires focus, noting that Parliamentarians must prioritize the concerns of their constituents rather than attempting to perform roles assigned to other arms of the state.
He reiterated that advocacy for Gomoa Central remains his central obligation and that he intends to channel his efforts toward addressing the needs of the people who elected him.
