Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso East, has declared his readiness to cooperate with the party’s investigative processes following allegations of vote buying during the recent primaries.
In a statement dated Sunday, February 8, 2026, Baba Jamal noted that he had seen a communiqué from the Office of the President, which announced his recall as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria.
The recall, the statement said, was linked to claims of vote buying in the Ayawaso East NDC primaries.
The statement also referenced an earlier message from NDC General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, condemning alleged misconduct and calling for a formal investigation.
Baba Jamal, however, firmly denied the allegations, insisting that he had not engaged in any electoral malpractice.
“I, Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, have not engaged in any vote buying or election malpractices and I pledge to avail myself to assist the party in its investigation into the subject matter anytime,” he said.
He also expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the honour of serving as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria and thanked the NDC in Ayawaso East for the trust reposed in him to lead the party in the upcoming by-election scheduled for March 3, 2026.
