NDC not campaigning means they’re planning evil toward December elections – Adjei Ofori Atta alleges

The Manhyia South Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori Atta, has suggested that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is plotting an “evil agenda” for the upcoming elections due to their lack of campaign activity.

Popularly known as Tom Tom, he expressed his concerns during an interview with Okatakyie Afrifa on Accra-based Angel FM’s morning show on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. He stated, “As we can all see, the NDC has not been campaigning. We must be watchful of this tactic, as they seek to use it to execute their evil plans.”

NPP vs. NDC Campaigning

Comparing the campaign efforts of the NPP and NDC, Tom Tom emphasized that the NPP is actively campaigning as if they were in opposition, while the NDC appears to be largely absent from the campaign landscape. “Unlike the NDC, the NPP is vigorously pursuing a four-prong campaign strategy featuring the presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, his vice, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), and their wives, Samira Bawumia and Alma Pokua Opoku Prempeh,” he said.

Bawumia vs. Mahama

In his remarks about the two presidential candidates, Tom Tom noted that while Dr. Bawumia is campaigning in at least three constituencies a day, John Mahama is more reserved, often returning to Accra after brief outings.

Napo vs. Jane

He further compared the campaign activities of the vice-presidential candidates, asserting that NAPO is also visiting multiple constituencies daily, while Prof. Jane Opoku Agyemang appears to be less visible in the campaign.

Samira vs. Lordina

Regarding the engagement of the Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, Tom Tom commended her active participation in campaigning across the country, contrasting her visibility with that of Lordina Mahama, who he claimed is “nowhere to be found.”

Alma Prempeh

Tom Tom further mentioned the great role being played by Napo’s, wife, Alma in the NPP campaign.

“She’s going around actively campaigning but nobody hears about the husband of the NDC vice presidential candidate in the campaign, “ he added.

Polling stations

Tom Tom said elections are won at polling stations, and the NDC cannot use any crude tactics to have their way.

“If you’re not campaigning what results will you get,” he asked the NDC, adding, “Anytime you see them not campaigning it means they are doing something diabolical. “

Demonstrations

Tom Tom accused the NDC of being behind demonstrations that had happened in the build-up to the elections.

“They are doing this just to cause confusion in the country. Recently in parliament, had it not been for the level-headedness of NPP MPs, there would have been chaos in the House due to the attitude of NDC MPs,” he said.

Watchful

With all the developments, Tom Tom implored Ghanaians to be watchful.

“We should not allow any political party to create confusion during the election through ballot snatching and other evil acts,” he urged.
