Police in the Eastern South Region have arrested NDC’s Abuakwa North Communications Officer, Alhaji Abdul Wahab, over a viral video in which he allegedly threatened Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin and two other NPP officials.
The two others are Frank Annor-Dompreh, Minority Chief Whip, and Henry Nana Boakye, National Organizer of the NPP.
In a statement, police confirmed that the suspect was cautioned and later released on bail.
He is expected to report to the Regional Police Headquarters in Kyebi on Monday, September 15, 2025, to assist with further investigations.
“The suspect has been cautioned and subsequently released on bail to report at the Regional Police Headquarters in Kyebi on Monday, September 15, 2025 to assist in investigations,” the police noted.
The matter stems from tensions during the Akwatia by-election on September 2, when some men, alleged to be linked to Afenyo-Markin, reportedly removed posters from a vehicle parked in front of the NDC constituency office.
The incident sparked confusion, after which Wahab, in a media interview, allegedly issued the threats against the three political leaders.
Police have assured the public of a fair and transparent investigation and promised timely updates on the case.
