The family of a young boy who miraculously survived the fatal accident at Nkawanda, along the Nkawkaw stretch of the Accra–Kumasi highway, has visited the Kenop Care Hospital in Nkawkaw to identify him and begin the formal processes to take him home.
The boy, who identified himself as Kwasi Junior, was traveling with his mother, Gladys Nartey, who unfortunately lost her life in the crash.
According to information provided by the boy, his father is Kwasi Nkrumah, and the family hails from Akrade near Somanya.
Reports by Nkawkaw-based Agoo FM indicate that the death toll from the crash has risen to nine. Hospital authorities confirmed that three patients were discharged yesterday, while eight remain on admission.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwahu West, Tamimu Halidu, has visited accident victims receiving treatment at various hospitals in Nkawkaw.
He donated GH₵4,000 each to the medical facilities caring for the injured to support treatment and ease the financial burden on families.
The MCE expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and urged drivers to strictly adhere to road safety regulations to avoid similar tragedies.
He also commended health workers for their swift response.
