NPP pooh-poohs Alan’s allegation of violent attacks on his team

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has refuted allegations of intimidation and harassment by the former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Accra, the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong stated that claims by Mr.  Kyeremanten that the party has been hijacked by some persons is false.

“In reference to Mr. Kyerematen’s concerns, which include allegations of intimidation against his supporters, it is noteworthy that certain government appointees, including cabinet ministers, who openly declared their support for him are still at post and have never been intimidated.

“Under the Fourth Republic, both the NPP and the NDC have had some leading members of their party breaking ranks to either form their own party, or join other political parties, yet the mother party remained resilient,” Mr. Kodua Frimpong stated.

The former Trades Minister who resigned from the NPP to contest the 2024 elections as an independent presidential candidate also accused the party of skewing the processes in favor of one candidate and intimidation of his supporters during the super delegates conference on August 26, 2023.

But the General Secretary of the NPP indicated that the claims by the former Trade and Industry Minister cannot be true, adding that the party has provided a level playing field for all.

He called on members not be destructed by Alan Kyeremanten’s resignation from the party to contest as an independent candidate in the 2024 elections.

Mr. Kodua Frimpong further urged members of the party to remain resilient and united to achieve the “Breaking the 8” agenda in the 2024 elections.
