The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has referred formal petitions against its Deputy Director of Communications, Ernest Owusu Bempah, to the party’s National Council for determination.
In a statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong on Tuesday, September 24, 2025, the party disclosed that it had received petitions from members seeking Mr. Owusu Bempah’s removal from office, citing conduct that has become a matter of “grave concern.”
The statement explained that because Mr. Owusu Bempah’s appointment was originally recommended by the National Executive Committee and subsequently approved by the National Council, the issue must be reviewed by the Council in line with due process.
“The leadership of the Party has observed, with grave concern, the conduct of Mr. Ernest Owusu Bempah, Deputy Director of Communications,” the statement noted. It further stressed that the party remains committed to discipline, transparency, and safeguarding its core values.
This referral comes at a sensitive time for the NPP as it prepares for major electoral contests, with growing calls inside the party for stronger accountability and internal discipline.
