The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended its 2024 parliamentary candidate for Agona West, Christopher Arthur, over what it describes as a violation of internal party directives.
According to a suspension letter jointly signed by the Agona West Constituency Secretary, Anthony Kwame Kum, and Chairman, Alhaji Gibrine Tanko, on Monday, July 14, 2025, Arthur is accused of organizing an electoral area meeting on Sunday, July 6, 2025, in direct defiance of a directive from the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua.
The directive had cautioned all party members against engaging in internal campaign activities for party positions at this time.
The party described Arthur’s actions as a “clear breach of party regulations” and an act of “administrative indiscipline.”
“Your action not only disregards the authority of the General Secretary but also undermines internal unity and the strategic work being done to strengthen the party ahead of the next general election,” the letter stated.
Arthur’s suspension takes immediate effect, pending further disciplinary proceedings.
