The Vetting Committee of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) has cleared all the 10 Presidential aspirants as eligible to participate in the upcoming Special Electoral College Election.
This is however subject to the approval of the National Council of the party.
The Vetting Committee submitted its report to the National Council through the General Secretary on Monday, July 10, 2023.
The eligible Flagbearer aspirants are:
- Hon. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen
- Mr. Kwadwo Poku
- Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia
- Hon. Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko
- Hon. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong
- Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong
- Hon. Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku
- Hon. Dr. Owusu Akoto Afriyie
- Hon. Joe Ghartey
- Hon. Francis Addai-Nimoh
A statement signed by the NPP General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua said “the National Council of the Party is scheduled to deliberate on the Vetting Committee’s recommendations on July 20, 2023.”
The Special Electoral College Election is slated for August 26, to whittle the number of Presidential candidate aspirants to five candidates.
The party has set November 4, 2023, as the date for its presidential primary to select a flagbearer for the general elections in 2024.
