The National Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has rated President John Dramani Mahama’s first year in office four out of ten, describing his performance as disappointing to young people across the country.
In a statement dated January 12, 2026 and signed by the National Youth Organizer, Salam Mustapha, the youth wing said although the President has recorded gains in macroeconomic indicators, his administration has failed to address the core concerns of the youth, particularly unemployment and cost of living pressures.
“On a scale of one to ten (1–10), we will grade you four (4) on your performance so far,” the statement said.
While acknowledging improvements in “a stable foreign exchange regime and single-digit inflation,” the group argued that these gains have not translated into better living conditions for young people.
The NPP Youth Wing warned that unresolved youth unemployment poses a serious national risk, describing the situation as “a real ticking time bomb” capable of triggering civil and political unrest.
Meanwhile, the majority of Ghanaians, including experts, have welcomed President Mahama’s leadership, rating it as one of the best in the history of Ghana.
