The National Service Authority (NSA) has hinted at a possible increase in the monthly allowances for personnel.
Currently, personnel receive about GH¢715 per month, but according to the Acting Director-General of the Authority, Ruth Dela Seddoh, discussions are far advanced to finalize a new rate that reflects current economic realities.
Speaking to journalists in Accra, Ms. Seddoh noted that although she could not disclose the exact percentage of the proposed increment, service personnel should expect a “meaningful adjustment.”
“It is something that the President has expressed his interest in. But we all know the situation we find ourselves in, and so we don’t want to press him too hard. Let’s be hopeful,” she said.
“I don’t want to go ahead of the Minister, but I can assure you that we have had very good talks, and we are hopeful that there will be some increment,” she added.
The expected review forms part of broader government measures to improve the welfare and motivation of young graduates serving under the National Service Scheme.
Meanwhile, the NSA has announced the opening of registration for the 2025/2026 service year, scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, and close on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
Ms. Seddoh reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to transparency and efficiency, assuring service personnel and prospective registrants of better conditions ahead.
