Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame has described attention as one of the most valuable assets an artiste can have, emphasising the connection between creative expression, public visibility and scrutiny in the entertainment industry.
Speaking to Krakye on Rythymz One-on-One on GHOne TV, the award-winning musician said genuine artistic work naturally attracts attention, which often exposes artistes to public judgement and criticism.
“The thing about creative work is that if it’s truly art, it will draw attention. And once it draws attention, people will judge it,” he stated.
He further stressed the importance of audience attention to artistes, describing it as a valuable currency alongside the art itself.
“For an artiste, attention is one of the most valuable currencies aside from the art itself,” he added.
Okyeame Kwame also shared his thoughts on the influence of social media, arguing that the platforms do not create people but expose their personalities and contributions to a wider audience.
