Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has once again apologize to Ghanaians for failing to secure Ghana’s qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The coach was unable to lead the Black Stars to a single victory in the qualifiers, suffering a shocking home defeat to Niger in the final match of the qualification campaign in November 2024.
At a pre-match press conference ahead of Ghana’s clash with Chad on Friday, Coach Otto Addo took the opportunity to apologize to Ghanaians.
“Surely I’m the head coach but I think we are all in this together. It’s not only about me. When we win we all win and when we lose we all lose. I really like to say sorry for what happened. Especially the home games, the most important thing missing was the goals,” coach Otto Addo told the press.
In the pre-match interview, Black Stars head coach Otto Addo called on Ghanaians to support the team in the World Cup qualifiers and expressed gratitude for the backing they have received so far.
“I need everybody and I want to thank you all. The country has given us the support, the president, the sports minister and everyone,” Otto Addo said.
This follows a visit by President John Dramani Mahama to the Black Stars’ training grounds on Thursday. Accompanied by Sports Minister Kofi Adams, he reassured the national team of the country’s support ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
