Renowned pastor, author, and speaker Pastor Touré Roberts has shared heartfelt insights into his marriage with Sarah Jakes Roberts, describing their relationship as one deeply rooted in friendship, purpose, and spiritual partnership.
Speaking on Starr 103.5 FM’s celebrated program, Starr Chat with Bola Ray on Thursday, May 29, 2025, the influential speaker reflected on his journey to finding love and building a strong marriage with his wife, Sarah Jakes Roberts. Speaking on the foundation of their relationship, he revealed,
“Our love began with friendship. You have to marry your friend.”
Pastor Touré also stressed on the significance of being whole before entering into a romantic relationship.
“You have to be healed before you can love,” he said, advising listeners not to let emotional wounds dictate their choice of a partner. “Don’t allow your wounds to choose your partner.”
In addition to matters of the heart, Pastor Touré discussed the importance of living purposefully and identifying the people God places in one’s life to help fulfill divine assignments.
“You need to know who your people are. Some people are not supposed to go with you,” he noted.
